Development Updates: Dec. 5th

Welcome to this week’s roundup of progress and updates at Veilock VPN. We've been hard at work enhancing security, refining automation, and bringing new features to life. From innovative solutions for bypassing censorship to polishing the user experience, here's what we've accomplished and what's on the horizon.

Streamlining Infrastructure with Ansible

This week, we’ve been leveraging Ansible to enhance the automation of our server management and deployment processes. Using playbooks (instructions), we’re simplifying and automating everything from provisioning new VPN servers to managing configuration updates across our global network.

Ansible operates by organizing tasks into playbooks, which function similarly to bash scripts designed for automation. One of our primary automation goals has been standardizing the baseline configuration for each server, regardless of its intended role (VPN server, database, web server, etc).

Another major focus of our automation efforts has been tightening server security. We're using the CIS (Center for Internet Security) Benchmarks as our guide to ensure every server is configured to meet industry-leading security standards.

Expanded DevOps Team

We’re excited to welcome a few new faces to the Veilock team! Each is equipped with a strong set of skills and fresh perspectives that will help us push boundaries and take Veilock VPN to the next level. From bolstering our development efforts to enhancing automation and streamlining operations, these new team members are already diving in and making an impact.

Every line of code, every server deployed, and every feature developed is part of a larger mission: empowering individuals around the world with unrestricted access to the internet.

Next Week

Looking ahead to the upcoming week, our focus will be on refining the progress we’ve made with Ansible, ensuring every playbook is polished and thoroughly tested for accuracy and reliability. This step is crucial to making sure our automated setups run flawlessly across all servers.

Additionally, we’ll be turning our attention to MyVeilock, our VPN panel. The goal is to evaluate its current functionality and explore improvements that can enhance the user experience. Whether it’s streamlining account management, improving accessibility, or adding new features, we’re committed to making MyVeilock as intuitive and user-friendly as possible. It’s shaping up to be another productive week!
